Polymer Solutions

Worldwide mobile data traffic is projected to increase 13-fold between 2012 and 2017; a 66% CAGR. Given Albemarle’s diverse portfolio of high-performing, cost-effective brominated fire safety technologies in the server connector and printed wiring board markets, our company is well positioned to benefit from this trend.

Catalysts

Governments are projected to continue their drive towards lower sulphur content in transportation fuels. While the upcoming mandate will present a challenge to oil refiners, Albemarle is well-positioned to provide competitive solutions with a wide range of high-performing hydro-treating and fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalyst technologies.

Fine Chemistry

Albemarle’s Fine Chemistry Services division is one of few companies capable of providing both the R&D resources required to make immature processes scalable and the assets to support world-scale manufacturing. Our customers have learned that working with Albemarle gives them the tools and insight to create a world-class process, from a producer who will be there for them in the long run.

Polymer Solutions

Spending by the global middle class is projected to rise from $21 trillion in 2009 to $35 trillion in 2020, as a dramatic increase in consumers with disposable income occurs. Such trends are expected to continue to drive demand for consumer electronics in which brominated flame retardants provide essential fire retardant properties.

Catalysts

China and India are projected to increase their plastic consumption by 10.5 million tons over the next 5 years, equivalent to the total current US consumption. As infrastructure spending and consumer demand drive greater demand for plastics, Albemarle’s polymer catalysts business benefits from increased sales of co-catalysts and components to ethylene manufacturers.

Fine Chemistry

Oil production from deep-water fields has nearly doubled in the past 5 years and now makes up 8% of total global oil output. As an increasing portion of international oil companies' capital investments fund drilling in waters both deeper and farther offshore, demand for Albemarle’s clear brine fluids is expected to continue to grow.
